Met Build-Out

Our Met Build-Out program is a strategic initiative to increase Patriot’s metallurgical coal production, and consists of multiple mines with differing met coal qualities. Our modular mine portfolio allows us the versatility to dial our met production up or down in a timely manner in response to market conditions.

Exports

Patriot has exported significant volumes of coal to Europe and South America for many years, particularly metallurgical coal. Led by a substantial increase in thermal coal exports, Patriot shipped a record 45% of its volume to locations outside the U.S. in 2012.
